i want to glaze a small pottery scultpture I made?
How can I make a glaze out of household materials? I don’t care if its not up to professional standard, I just want it to be shiny! It has already been in the oven and is bone dry.
I have found that the easiest and least expensive way
to glaze pottery items, is to buy a brush on glaze at your
local craft store. You can get either matte or gloss finish.

Rehab-Real-Estate: Staying Professional When Rehabbing a Home
In any kind of business, it is always important to maintain a certain level of professionalism. Sometimes, it is professionalism that determines whether a business survives or sinks. When rehabbing a home, the same principle applies. However, there are some instances when rehabbers commit unprofessional acts without even noticing it. Here are some instances when a rehabber’s professionalism is put to test
The first sign of lack of professionalism when rehabbing a home appears when listing repairs and improvements for the property. This happens because of a wrong frame of mind. Remember that when you are fixing and flipping properties, you are doing it for the house’s next owner and that owner is not you. All the repairs you will carry out must be directed towards increasing the property’s value and not satisfying your personal wants for the house. The idea is to turn a distressed property into a profitable investment and not into your dream house. One classic example is when choosing what flooring to use.
Let us say that you’ve always imagined your dream house to have shiny wooden floors. So when you found a property, you listed “wooden floors” among your needed materials even when it will be much cheaper and easier to lay out carpet instead. In this case, you let your personal preferences take over your professionalism. Another example is when picking colors for paint or tiles. Let us say you have always liked pink ever since you were a child. So when you started rehabbing a home, you picked pink as color for the interior and even for the ceramic tiles on the bathroom.
In this case, again, the rehabber should have been more professional than personal. While there is nothing wrong with the color pink, it is always better to stay to universally accepted colors. Light colors are ideal for interiors while large white tiles never go out of fashion for bathrooms.
Lack of professionalism when rehabbing a home also appears in the marketing stage. Some rehabbers tend to shun offers made by prospective buyers whom they think are not worthy of the house they worked hard to bring back to life. It’s like they are struggling to let go of the property just because the buyer doesn’t seem to be a “good” person. In this case, personal preferences again took over professionalism.
