how do you measure a thread without a thread measuring wire?
I have a 3/4-10 thread and i need to measure it,however, I don’t have a thread wire.I was wondering if there is any measuring tool for this.
Thread wires settle on the actual pitch so you can measure the pitch diameter. However, since you already know the thread designation, you can lookup all other pertinent info for that thread in a Machinists Handbook.
Basic Pitch diameter=.6850″
Minor diameter=.6309″
Major diameter=.750″
