Will a ring with 14 karat gold plating corrode?

I was wondering whether or not the 14 karat gold plating on a ring I’m considering buying for my girlfriend will corrode or discolor or anything like that. Thanks a lot to anyone who helps.

Gold plating can and does wear off, so the metal underneath can corrode or cause skin discoloration. You’re probably better off buying real/solid silver than gold plated.
